- Interface with Pearson School Systems Inc. software engineers.
- Oversee the implementation of the IT infrastructure (hardware & software) required for Chancery SMS.
- Work with the Ed-tech Division to ensure that network performance & connectivity, between the Chancery office and individual schools sites, is reliable.
- Define requirements for a Disaster Recovery Plan
- Administer Chancery SMS software and databases: e.g., security, back-ups, and installing software upgrades
- Manage the Chancery SMS database: back-up, recovery, performance tuning, and security
- Install and support Active Directory and Zone Integration Server
- Integrate Chancery SMS with Active Directory and the Zone Integration Server
- Troubleshoot installation and configuration issues
- Set up and maintain various Chancery SMS environments
- Train end-users of Chancery SMS
- Coordinate/facilitate inter-office activities
- Coordinate activities between student services and school site personnel.
- Determine requirements for data extensions, customized reports, and new reports
- Review/test trial data conversions
- Develop customized training materials which incorporate school processes, new user procedures, and district-specific Chancery SMS configurations
- Revise/develop user procedures and training materials
- Create data extensions using data Customization Builder tool
- Create interfaces to other systems
- Develop new Chancery SMS reports using Crystal Reports (after training)
- Customize reports provided by Chancery to better meet the district and school needs
- Provide Helpdesk support for end-users
- Design and monitor collection and use of data to ensure its availability to policy makers, educators, and the public community
- Complete data planning and mapping exercises to prepare for data conversions
- Design and develop new reports, extracts, and interfaces
- Update the DOE website with content
- Provide logistical support for training, e.g., schedule workshops, lab, and participants
- Enforce minimum standards for desktop computers at the schools: hardware and operating system software including processor speed, memory, and operating system. (A slow computer will yield a poor end-user experience).
- Apply appropriate security measures including virus protection for end-users' computers.
- Check for proper operation of Adobe Acrobat on user workstations. (Many report problems are due to improper installation of Acrobat).
- Run process-intensive tasks during non-school hours
- Pilot features and functionality to ensure users understand and adopt the changed procedures
